Scooter Rider Killed After Losing Control on North Kashmir Highway

Baramulla, March 11, KNT: A man died after the scooty he was riding lost control and crashed into a roadside tree near the Hyderbeigh area of Pattan along the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway on late Tuesday evening, officials said.

The accident occurred along a stretch of the highway where two-wheeler accidents have occasionally been reported due to speeding and sudden loss of control.

Officials identified the deceased as Nayeem Ahmad Rather, son of Muhammad Akbar Rather and a resident of Buchoo village in Pattan.

He was riding a scooty (JK05N-8271) when the vehicle reportedly went out of control and hit a tree along the roadside.

Locals and passersby rushed the injured rider to Trauma Hospital Pattan soon after the accident.

Doctors there referred him to JVC Srinagar after assessing his condition as critical.

However, doctors at the Srinagar hospital declared him brought dead on arrival.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and started further investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident. [KNT]
