Srinagar/Jammu, April 20, KNT: Traffic Police Headquarters Jammu and Kashmir on Monday issued a detailed advisory for April 21, warning of slow movement and restrictions across key highways due to weather conditions, maintenance work, and landslide risks.

According to the advisory, slow movement was observed on NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar National Highway) between Marog and Kishtwari Pathar due to breakdown of heavy vehicles and movement of nomadic herds.

Authorities advised passenger and light motor vehicle operators to prefer daytime travel, citing the possibility of landslides, shooting stones, and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal.

Traffic on NH-44 will remain subject to fair weather and road conditions, with both-side movement of LMVs and private cars permitted. However, heavy motor vehicles are to be allowed based on traffic regulation and lane discipline.

Security forces convoy movement will also be regulated, with traffic from both directions allowed subject to clearance from Traffic Control Units.

The Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road remains temporarily closed due to snow accumulation, officials said.

On the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) road, traffic from Minamarg towards Srinagar will be allowed after receiving a green signal from road maintenance agencies, depending on weather conditions.

Movement on the Mughal Road will be permitted only after clearance, with LMVs allowed during specific hours between Shopian and Poonch, subject to road conditions and weather.

Authorities advised commuters to confirm road status through traffic control units before undertaking travel, as conditions may change rapidly. [KNT]
