Udhampur, Sep 17, KNT: Security forces killed two militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Brattal area of Udhampur district during the intervening night of September 16 and 17, the Army’s White Knight Corps said on Thursday.

The operation, designated Operation Sohan, was launched after confirmed intelligence inputs indicated the presence of militants in the general area of Brattal, according to the White Knight Corps.

Troops of the Army’s White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jointly conducted the operation despite hostile weather, difficult terrain and poor visibility, the defence forces said.

The Army said the operation resulted in the neutralisation of two militants. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site, according to the security forces.

The operation remains underway, with search and surveillance activities continuing in the area. Security forces have maintained their deployment to search the surrounding terrain and ascertain whether any other militants remain in the area, the White Knight Corps said.

The operation is being conducted in the Brattal-Sohan and Khubban areas of Majalta, according to officials cited in reports on the ongoing security operation. The area comprises difficult forested terrain, where search operations have continued amid adverse weather conditions.

The identities of the two militants have not yet been officially disclosed. Claims circulating regarding their nationality or affiliation with any particular militant organisation have not been confirmed by the Army in its public statement.
