Yatra Buses, Car Collide on Jammu-Srinagar Highway; Eight Pilgrims Injured

Ramban, July 13 KNT: An accident involving two Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) buses carrying Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims and a private car left eight persons injured on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district on Monday, triggering a swift rescue operation by multiple agencies.

The collision, which also shattered the windowpanes of one of the pilgrim buses, caused panic among the yatris travelling in the convoy. Soon after the accident, personnel from the Civil Administration, CRPF, Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly launched a rescue operation at the site.

The injured were immediately evacuated from the damaged vehicles and shifted to the District Hospital Ramban, where they are undergoing treatment. Officials said all eight injured persons received prompt medical attention.

The accident briefly disrupted traffic on the busy highway before rescue teams cleared the affected vehicles and restored movement.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the collision. [KNT]
