SMC Commissioner Inspects Vending Zone at Lal Chowk

Srinagar, Feb 21, KNT: Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation Faz Lul Haseeb on Saturday conducted an on-site inspection of the SMC-designated Vending Zone opposite Tyndale Biscoe School Srinagar at Lal Chowk to review civic infrastructure and address concerns raised by vendors.

During the visit, the Commissioner interacted with members of the local vending community who highlighted issues related to sanitation management, drainage, street lighting and the need for augmentation of basic civic facilities. Vendors sought timely intervention to remove bottlenecks impacting their daily commercial activities.

The Commissioner assured the stakeholders that genuine grievances would be examined on priority and addressed in a phased and time-bound manner. He reiterated the Corporation’s commitment to improving essential amenities in key commercial hubs to ensure cleanliness, accessibility and smooth functioning of business areas.

He directed concerned officials to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the vending zone and prepare a detailed action plan for early implementation. Emphasis was laid on coordinated departmental efforts to upgrade infrastructure, enhance sanitation standards and ensure regular maintenance.

Members of the vending community expressed appreciation for the visit and conveyed hope that the issues raised would be resolved at the earliest. [KNT]
