Soz Dismisses Kamal’s Remarks, Avoids Comment on Drug Scam Role
Srinagar, May 1, KNT: Pradesh Congress Committee chief Saif-u-Din Soz on Wednesday brushed aside remarks made by National Conference leader Mustafa Kamal, saying he does not take his statements seriously.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in the Idgah area of Srinagar’s Old City, Soz declined to respond in detail to Kamal’s recent comments and avoided taking a position on the alleged role of Sham Lal Sharma in the spurious drug controversy.
When asked about reports regarding the recovery of an improvised explosive device in Srinagar, Soz said he had no information about the matter as he was in Delhi. He added that those responsible for planting such devices cannot claim to represent the interests of the people, noting that violence only brings suffering to the public.
Addressing a gathering earlier, Soz urged workers and labourers not to offer bribes to officials to get their work done. He described his outreach in the Old City as significant and expressed a desire to engage more directly with people to understand their concerns.
The Congress leader acknowledged that labourers and workers are facing hardships and said resolving their issues would require sustained effort. [KNT]
