JK Bank Employee Killed, Three Injured in Road Accident in South Kashmir’s Kulgam

Kulgam, March 11, KNT: A young employee of Jammu and Kashmir Bank was killed while three others were injured in a road accident in the Sopat Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.

The accident has triggered shock and grief in the victim’s native area and among his colleagues in the banking fraternity.

Officials said four persons were injured in the accident and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injured have been identified as Firdous Ahmad Dar of Bregam Devsar, Waqas Bashir, a residents of Chowgam Devsar and Shabir Ahmad Parray also a resident of Chowgam Devsar and Shahnawaz Rather of Watihal village of Qazigund.

One of the injured, identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Rather, later succumbed to his injuries despite efforts by doctors to save him.

Shahnawaz was working as an employee with Jammu and Kashmir Bank, and news of his death spread quickly in the area, leaving family members, friends and colleagues in mourning.

Hospital sources said the three other injured persons are undergoing treatment and remain under medical observation.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. [KNT]
