Jammu, March 23, KNT: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday handed over appointment letters to families affected by violence in the Jammu division, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to ensuring their dignity and rehabilitation, officials said.

The appointment letters were also given to next of kin (NoKs) of government employees who lost their lives in service, as part of measures aimed at providing economic support to affected households.

The initiative comes amid a broader push by the administration to address long-pending concerns of affected families and to strengthen rehabilitation efforts in the Union Territory.

Addressing the gathering, Sinha said Jammu and Kashmir stands at a decisive turning point, with youth and affected families aspiring for a better future.

“We stand at a decisive turning point in J&K today. The youth of the Union Territory and affected families aspire to a bright future and wish to live a better life. It is our shared responsibility to create the opportunities they deserve,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that justice for such families goes beyond punitive action and includes restoring dignity and addressing long-standing emotional and social challenges.

“Justice is not limited to punishment. It also lies in healing wounds, restoring dignity and acknowledging the pain of grieving families,” he said.

Sinha said the administration remains committed to ensuring that the stories and sacrifices of affected families are recognised and remembered.

He also reiterated the government’s resolve to act firmly against militant networks and those supporting them, stating that strict legal action would be taken against individuals found involved.

“I pledge to the affected families that we will work with full commitment to secure their dignified and honourable lives. We will not rest until justice reaches every family,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor added that individuals linked to such networks who had entered government systems in the past would face legal consequences and be removed in accordance with the law.

He described the initiative as part of a broader policy approach aimed at correcting past neglect and ensuring social and economic security for affected families.

“This is not merely a policy correction, but a moral declaration for a new Jammu and Kashmir—one that ensures accountability and restores dignity,” Sinha said. [KNT]
