
Ganderbal, March 26, KNT: A man from Ladakh died while four persons, including two tourists from Maharashtra, were injured in a road accident at Rail Gund in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday, officials said.
The accident occurred after a collision between two cars at Rail Gund Kangan, prompting immediate response from police and locals.
Reports said that soon after receiving information, SHO Police, Rayees Ahmad, along with his team rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
“All the injured were immediately shifted to Primary Health Centre Gund for treatment,” locals said, adding that two among the injured were later shifted to Sub District Hospital Kangan.
“One of the drivers identified as Muhammad Ali son of Ahmad Hussain from Ladakh succumbed to his injuries.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings to ascertain the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest a head-on collision due to over speeding, though officials said the exact circumstances are under investigation.
Among the four injured, two are from Maharashtra. [KNT]
