Srinagar, April 13, KNT: Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo and Senior Superintendent of Police G V Sundeep on Monday warned of strict action against those involved in drug trafficking, including property attachment and cancellation of driving licenses, as part of intensified efforts to curb narcotics in Srinagar.

The officials were speaking at the launch of a “Drug-Free Society” initiative on the sidelines of an awareness program at Amar Singh College.

The initiative highlights growing concern over drug abuse and aims to combine enforcement with public awareness to address the issue.

Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo stressed the importance of awareness in preventing substance abuse and called for collective efforts to ensure a drug-free society.

Officials said the administration is committed to sustained action against offenders alongside community outreach initiatives.

SSP Srinagar G V Sundeep said police have adopted a zero tolerance policy against drugs and are intensifying operations targeting the entire drug ecosystem.

“Every peddler, including the big fish, will be targeted,” he said, adding that ongoing operations are focused on dismantling networks involved in drug trafficking.

He emphasized that those engaged in drug abuse and trafficking “will face the music,” while urging society to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in combating the menace. [KNT]
