Budgam, April 16, KNT: Members of the Patwar Association in Budgam continued their protest for the second consecutive day on Thursday, assembling outside the Tehsil Office in Beerwah and staging a demonstration in support of their demands.

The protest is part of a three-day agitation by Patwaris, who have raised concerns over workload pressures and pending recruitment-related issues.

District President Altaf Ahmad Malik said the protest will continue until their demands are addressed, describing the current workload as “unbearable” and detrimental to service delivery.

He said increasing responsibilities without corresponding structural reforms have affected the efficiency of Patwaris and their ability to provide timely public services.

Protesters said the growing workload has led to delays and inconvenience for the public, calling for immediate intervention by authorities to improve working conditions for revenue officials.

The association had announced a three-day strike on April 13, 15, and 16 in connection with issues related to Class IV recruitment.

Among the key demands raised by the association are completion of the recruitment process in a fair and transparent manner, implementation of court orders, and provision of equal opportunity to all eligible candidates.

Demands of the Association

  1. The recruitment process for the posts must be completed in a fair and transparent manner.
  2. Court orders must be implemented in full.
  3. All eligible candidates should be given a proper opportunity to present their claims.
  4. After determining merit, no deserving candidate should be deprived of their rights.
  5. Issues related to recruitments after 2014 must be resolved and the recruitment process completed.
  6. Reservation in recruitment must be implemented as per rules, maintaining the 75% and 25% quota.
  7. The seniority list of candidates for these posts has been pending since 2015 and must be finalized.

The protesters also called for resolution of issues related to recruitments pending since 2014, adherence to reservation norms, and finalization of the seniority list pending since 2015.

The association said it will continue its agitation until concrete steps are taken to address the concerns raised by revenue officials. [KNT]
