Fratricide in CRPF Camp Leaves Three Personnel Dead, One Injured in Assam

Guwahati, August 4, KNT: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and another injured in a fratricide incident at the 34 Battalion CRPF camp in Assam’s Nagaon district on Tuesday morning.

According to officials, ASI/GD Balani Premavaram allegedly opened fire with his service weapon at around 7:00 a.m. on fellow personnel inside the battalion camp, killing Head Constable (GD) Vishnu Prasad Bhagel and Sub-Inspector (GD) Ramnawal Singh Yadav.

Another personnel, ASI/GD Mane Govind Sripal, sustained gunshot injuries and was shifted to Dew Care Hospital, Nagaon, where he is undergoing treatment.

After opening fire on his colleagues, the accused ASI allegedly shot himself and died by suicide, officials said.

Senior CRPF officers reached the camp soon after the incident. The motive behind the fratricide is yet to be established, and an inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances that led to the firing.
