Srinagar, April 24, KNT: Farooq Abdullah said the drug menace has “engulfed” society and stressed that parents must play a central role in addressing the issue, saying the government alone cannot tackle the problem.
“Drug menace has engulfed us completely. Parents have an important role to play, otherwise the government can’t do it,” he told reporters.
Speaking on national politics, Abdullah expressed confidence in electoral outcomes in several states, saying West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would emerge victorious, the Congress would win in Kerala, and M. K. Stalin’s party would retain power in Tamil Nadu.
He described these outcomes as “kindness from God.”
On international developments, Abdullah warned that the Middle East would “suffer heavily” if peace does not return and said he hopes the US president has realized that Israel was not right in pushing toward war.
He also said China and Russia should play a role in ensuring that the conflict comes to an end. [KNT]
