CRPF Head Constable Dies After Falling Unconscious in Shopian

Shopian, May 6, KNT: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died after falling unconscious in south Kashmir’s Shopian district during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Surindher Singh of 178 Battalion CRPF. He was a resident of the Shalibanda area of Hyderabad.

Officials said the CRPF personnel was posted at Police Post Wachi in the Zainapora area of Shopian district.

The deceased reportedly fell unconscious while on duty, following which he was immediately evacuated to Community Health Center (CHC) Zainapora for medical treatment.

However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead, officials said.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and medico-legal formalities were being carried out. The exact cause of death was not immediately known. [KNT]
