New Delhi, May 17, KNT: The “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP), which emerged online following controversial remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, has now expanded into an organized digital movement with its own website, membership appeals, social media campaign, and symbolic political branding.
The online collective, operating prominently under the handle “CJP_2029,” has launched a dedicated website inviting people to “join the movement,” while multiple social media posts linked to the campaign claim thousands of users have already registered as supporters.
The movement first gained traction after remarks made during a recent Supreme Court hearing in which the Chief Justice reportedly referred to certain unemployed activists as being “like cockroaches,” comments that triggered widespread online backlash and satire.
Soon afterward, meme creators, youth users, and digital activists began circulating parody political content under the banner of “Cockroach Janta Party,” transforming the phrase into a symbolic online identity.
Posts associated with the collective prominently feature the Constitution of India, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and slogans centered on constitutional values, youth frustration, and digital resistance. One widely circulated post stated that the group “firmly believes in the Constitution of India” and would work toward protecting its values.
The movement has also unveiled a symbolic “election symbol” online and is actively encouraging users to join through its website and social media channels.
Several accounts amplifying the campaign claimed that over 11,000 people joined within hours of launch, while later posts placed the figure even higher, though the numbers remain independently unverified.
The phenomenon is increasingly being viewed by observers as an example of meme-driven political mobilization among Gen Z users, blending satire, unemployment anxiety, constitutional symbolism, and digital activism into a new form of online protest culture. [KNT]
