Kupwara, June 18, KNT: A Pakistani national apprehended earlier this month was repatriated to Pakistan-held- Kashmir (PhK) through the Teetwal Friendship Bridge in Karnah sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday after completion of all legal and procedural formalities.

Officials said Assad Khan, son of Janzab Khan and a resident of Muzaffarabad, had been apprehended on June 12, 2026. Following investigation and verification procedures, authorities initiated the process for his repatriation through the designated crossing point.

The handover was carried out at the Teetwal Friendship Bridge in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Karnah, Tehsildar Karnah, officers of the Army, including representatives of 06 Mahar Regiment, and SHO Karnah, along with other concerned officials.

Officials said the repatriation process was conducted in a smooth and orderly manner in coordination with the relevant authorities on both sides.

The crossing point at Teetwal has historically served as an important humanitarian and administrative channel for facilitating approved cross-border exchanges and repatriation procedures.

Authorities said all requisite formalities were completed before the Pakistani national was handed over to the authorities across the Line of Control. [KNT]
