Srinagar, June 30, KNT: President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian Hujjatul Islam wal Muslimeen, Aga Syed Hassan Al-Musavi Al-Safavi, will travel to Tehran to attend the funeral ceremonies of the late Iranian Supreme Leader, Shaheed Ayatullah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (RA), following a formal invitation from the Office of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a statement, Aga Syed Hassan received the invitation from Ayatullah Mohsin Qomi, Incharge of International Affairs in the Office of the Supreme Leader, inviting him to participate in the funeral ceremonies and pay homage to the late leader.
The visit comes as Iran prepares for state funeral ceremonies beginning on July 4, with burial scheduled in Mashhad on July 9, months after Ayatullah Khamenei was killed during the February conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
The statement said Aga Syed Hassan will attend the ceremonies in his capacity as President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian and join religious scholars and dignitaries from different countries in paying their respects to the late Iranian leader.
The funeral is expected to draw senior political leaders, religious scholars and official delegations from several countries. [KNT]
