Beerwah, April 17, KNT: Residents of Beerwah sub-division in central Kashmir have raised concerns over the absence of ATM services at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Beerwah, saying the issue is affecting nearly 80 surrounding villages and causing hardship, particularly during medical emergencies.

Locals said patients and their attendants are being forced to travel to distant locations to withdraw cash, adding to their distress at a time when immediate financial access is often critical for treatment and related expenses.

Shabir Ahmad, a resident, said that the lack of an ATM facility at the hospital has become a serious problem, especially for those accompanying patients who require urgent cash for medicines and other needs. “People have to move out of the area to withdraw money, which becomes difficult during emergencies,” he said.

Another resident, Firdouse Ahmad Dar, echoed similar concerns, stating that the absence of basic banking infrastructure is causing daily inconvenience to the public. He said the situation reflects a gap in essential services at a key healthcare facility catering to a large population.

They urged the district administration Budgam and concerned banking authorities to take immediate steps to install and operationalize ATM services at the hospital, noting that the issue directly impacts both patients and the general public.

Locals said that in emergency situations, lack of immediate access to cash can lead to delays and complications, particularly in a healthcare setting where timely payments are often required.

They collectively appealed for urgent intervention to ensure that ATM services are made functional at SDH Beerwah without further delay. [KNT]
