
Budgam, June 23, KNT: Police in Budgam have seized around 30 vehicles, including tractors, tippers, excavators and JCB machines, during a major enforcement drive against illegal mining in the Beerwah area over the past 24 hours.
The operation was conducted by Beerwah Police under the supervision of senior officers as part of an intensified campaign to curb unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in the district.
Official sources said extensive checking and enforcement drives were carried out across various locations within the jurisdiction, leading to the seizure of vehicles allegedly involved in illegal mining activities.
Among the vehicles seized were tractors, tippers, LNT machines and JCBs, which police said were being used for unauthorized excavation and transportation of mineral resources.
Police said strict monitoring would continue across vulnerable locations and warned that legal action would be taken against those found violating mining regulations.
Officials also appealed to the public to assist enforcement agencies by reporting instances of illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals.
Police maintained that similar drives would continue in the coming days as part of efforts to protect natural resources and ensure compliance with environmental and mining laws. [KNT]
