Kulgam, March 15, KNT: Unknown persons allegedly stole 18 sheep from two households in Ahmadabad Lassipora village of the DH Pora area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, residents said on Sunday.

The theft reportedly occurred overnight, when unidentified individuals entered the affected families’ premises and took the livestock.

The incident has caused concern among local residents, particularly as livestock rearing is an important source of income for many rural families in the area.

The stolen sheep belonged to MuhammadAshraf Ganie and Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie, both residents of Ahmadabad Lassipora village.

Locals said the families discovered the theft in the morning when they noticed that several sheep were missing from their sheds.

The loss has dealt a financial blow to the affected households, which rely on livestock for their livelihood.

“We depend on livestock for our livelihood and losing so many sheep at once is a huge loss for our families,” a member of the affected family said.

Police officials said the matter would be investigated after a formal complaint is lodged with the concerned police station. [KNT]
