Srinagar, June 13, KNT: A scheduling conflict between Senior Resident recruitment examinations at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar and Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has sparked concern among aspiring doctors, with candidates facing the prospect of choosing between two important career opportunities.
Both institutions have scheduled their Senior Resident recruitment examinations for June 18, prompting appeals for government intervention to prevent eligible candidates from being disadvantaged.
Raising the issue, health activist Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan urged the Chief Minister’s office to intervene and facilitate a solution that would allow candidates to compete for positions at both institutions.
Dr. Khan said recruitment opportunities for Senior Resident posts do not arise frequently and that many qualified doctors prepare extensively to compete for vacancies at both medical colleges.
He argued that holding both examinations on the same date could deprive deserving candidates of a fair opportunity to participate in both selection processes.
According to him, the clash in examination schedules may force aspirants to choose one institution over the other, limiting their options and potentially affecting merit-based selection.
Seeking a practical solution, Dr. Khan urged authorities to consider postponing one of the examinations by a day or two in the larger interest of candidates.
He expressed hope that the government would adopt a student-friendly approach and ensure that equal opportunities are available to all eligible doctors participating in the recruitment process. [KNT]
