Baramulla, March 10, KNT: The district administration Baramulla has imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in Mirgund and adjoining areas of Mirchimar in Tehsil Singhpora of Pattan subdivision to prevent any law and order situation.

The order was issued by the District Magistrate Baramulla following a report submitted by the Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla regarding a long-standing dispute between rival factions of the Shia community over religious functions and jurisdiction of Imam Bargah and Masjid Mirchimar in Mirgund.

According to the official order, the restrictions have been imposed as a precautionary measure ahead of the 21st of Ramzan, which falls on March 11.

Authorities said the decision was taken after assessing the ground situation and previous reports indicating the possibility of unlawful organisations participating in congregations and activities linked to religious processions.

The order states that the restrictions will remain in force from 8:00 pm on March 10 until 9:30 pm on March 11 in Mirgund, Mirchimar and adjoining areas of Tehsil Singhpora in Baramulla district.

Under the order, no assembly or congregation of four or more persons will be allowed in the notified areas during the period of restrictions.

Authorities have also prohibited any procession in the affected villages during the enforcement of the restrictions.

The order further states that no person, except authorised members of the armed forces, police or magistrates on duty, will be allowed to carry firearms or any article capable of being used as a weapon in public.

Use of loudspeakers or other sound amplifying devices for speeches or announcements has also been restricted unless prior permission is obtained from the District Magistrate Baramulla.

Officials said the measures have been taken to maintain peace and tranquillity in the area and to safeguard life and property.

The administration has urged inhabitants of the area to cooperate with authorities and adhere to the restrictions to avoid any disruption of public order. [KNT]
