CRPF Constable Found Dead After Alleged Suicide in Kokernag

Anantnag, May 8, KNT: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his service weapon in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday night at a CRPF deployment location in Kokernag.

Officials identified the deceased as Constable Satish Kumar, a resident of Rewari district of Haryana, who was posted with the 164 Battalion of the CRPF in Kashmir.

According to officials, the constable allegedly used his service rifle to shoot himself under circumstances that are being investigated.

He sustained critical injuries in the incident and was declared dead, officials said.

The incident triggered concern within the security establishment, following which police and CRPF officials initiated necessary legal and departmental proceedings.

The body of the deceased was taken for medico-legal formalities before being handed over to the family. [KNT]
