Srinagar, June 25, KNT: A 70-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Merak Shah Shrine in the Shalimar area of Srinagar on Thursday.
According to officials, the accident occurred when an unknown vehicle struck the woman and fled from the scene. Local residents immediately rushed to her aid and shifted her to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Habak, for treatment.
The injured woman was identified as Sara, wife of Late Abdul Gaffar Bhat, a resident of Koker Mohalla, Shalimar.
Doctors at PHC Habak declared her brought dead.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to identify the vehicle involved and trace the driver, who fled after the accident. [KNT]
