Srinagar, May 18, KNT: The family of incarcerated Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid on Monday said the timing of the funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Janazah) for his late father would be decided after the pronouncement of an order by the High Court on Rashid’s bail application.

The family said the decision regarding the funeral schedule was being kept pending in view of the ongoing proceedings before the High Court concerning the bail plea of Engineer Rashid.

“In view of the ongoing proceedings before the High Court regarding the bail application of Er. Rashid, it is hereby informed that the timing of the funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Janazah) will be decided after the pronouncement of the order by the Hon’ble Court,” the family said.

The family appealed to the public and supporters to remain patient and await further updates regarding the arrangements.

“We request everyone to kindly bear with the situation and await further updates. Your patience and understanding in this difficult time is deeply appreciated,” the statement added.

The development came amid growing public attention over whether Engineer Rashid, who is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in a case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), would be granted relief to attend the last rites of his father.

Further details regarding the court proceedings and funeral arrangements were awaited. [KNT]
