Gusty Winds: Non-Local Vendor Injured After Tree Falls in Sumbal

Bandipora, May 4, KNT: A non-local street vendor was injured in Sumbal area of Bandipora district after strong gusty winds uprooted a tree that fell on him on Monday, officials said.

The injured has been identified as Ratish Kumar, 25, son of Dia Ram, a resident of Uttar Pradesh currently living in Sumbal Colony. He works as a gol gappa vendor near Sumbal Bridge.

According to reports, a willow tree was uprooted due to intense winds and fell on Kumar, leaving him injured.

Locals rushed to the spot and shifted him to Community Health Centre Sumbal for immediate treatment.

Medical officials later referred him to JVC Hospital Srinagar for advanced care, where his condition was stated to be stable.

Meanwhile, gusty winds caused damage across parts of north Kashmir, with reports of rooftops and boundary walls being affected, along with several trees uprooted in multiple areas.

The weather-related disruption also led to brief interruptions in movement and daily activities in some places, officials said. [KNT]
