Islamabad, April 2, KNT: The body of a three-year-old child, who had gone missing from Dooru Shahabad area of south Kashmir, was recovered from a stream in Sarnal area of Islamabad district on Saturday, bringing an end to an 11-day search operation.

The deceased was identified as Ayaan Hamid, who had been missing since March 22 after disappearing from the Pehru area.

A police official said local residents informed police that the body of a child had been found near a stream bank in Sarnal.

“On reaching the spot we saw the body on the stream bank,” the official said.

The body was shifted to District Hospital Islamabad for post-mortem examination, where a relative of the child confirmed his identity, police said.

The recovery marked a tragic conclusion to efforts launched by police and locals following the child’s disappearance.

Police had initiated a search operation soon after the child went missing, while posters seeking information about the missing boy were circulated on March 27 to assist in tracing him.

Police had already registered FIR No. 70/16 under Section 363 RPC in connection with the disappearance.

Further investigation was underway. [KNT]
