Srinagar, June 15, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a chargesheet against a husband-wife duo, including a Junior Engineer and an Anganwadi worker, in a disproportionate assets case involving alleged acquisition of assets beyond their known sources of income.

The chargesheet was presented before the Court of the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, against Tariq Ahmad Ganie, a Junior Engineer in the J&K Housing Board, and his wife, Rukhsana Jan, an Anganwadi worker in the ICDS Department. Both are residents of Aalai Gund Chandergam in Tral.

The case stems from FIR No. 18/2020 registered by Police Station ACB Srinagar under provisions of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and the Ranbir Penal Code.

According to the ACB, the investigation originated from a verification into allegations that Tariq Ahmad Ganie had accumulated disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income. The inquiry reportedly focused on financial transactions involving crores of rupees routed through various bank accounts linked to the accused.

The Bureau stated that the investigation substantiated allegations against both the public servant and his wife, leading to the filing of the chargesheet after completion of the probe.

Officials said the prosecution sanction required for proceeding against the public servant was obtained from the competent government authority before the case was placed before the court.

The chargesheet has now been submitted for judicial determination before the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar.

The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for July 8, 2026. [KNT]
