Young Girl Rescued After Attempting to Jump into Suru River in Kargil

Kargil, July 26, KNT: A young girl was rescued after she allegedly attempted to end her life by jumping into the Suru River from Iqbal Bridge in Kargil on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses said the girl attempted to leap into the fast-flowing river, but alert bystanders acted swiftly and prevented the incident by rescuing her before she could be swept away by the strong current.

The timely intervention of the passersby averted what could have been a major tragedy. The girl was subsequently shifted to hospital in an unconscious state.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident. [KNT]
