Jammu, April 25, KNT: Union Minister Jitendra Singh said the Vande Bharat Express service between Jammu and Srinagar was part of a planned expansion from the outset and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accelerating rail infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, Singh said railway development in the region has gathered pace, with an expanding network of tracks being laid across Jammu.
“First of all, I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, because this has been possible due to him. Today, a network of railway tracks is being laid in Jammu,” he said.
He noted that it had taken decades for rail connectivity to extend from Jammu to Katra, adding that recent development has been significantly faster.
“It took 60 years to reach train from Jammu to Katra and thanks to Modi for fast-track development,” Singh said.
The minister said the Vande Bharat Express linking Jammu and Srinagar was envisioned from the beginning of the project and indicated that the number of coaches in the service is expected to increase.
He said improved rail connectivity is expected to strengthen transport infrastructure and enhance movement between regions. [KNT]
