Man Rescued After Jumping into Jhelum in Srinagar

Srinagar, April 24, KNT: A man was rescued after he jumped into the Jhelum river near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Srinagar on Friday, officials said.

The individual has been identified as Adil Badyari, (30) a resident of Karfali Mohalla Habba Kadal area of Srinagar. He was pulled out of the river by river police personnel who were already present in the area conducting a search operation related to an earlier drowning incident reported on February 22, 2026.

Officials said the team responded immediately after noticing the incident and managed to rescue him in time.

A police party from Shaheed Gunj Police Station subsequently shifted to SMHS Hospital for medical evaluation, where his condition was reported to be stable. [KNT]
