Rusted Mortar Shell Recovered During Digging in Kathua Village

Kathua, August 4, KNT: A rusted mortar shell was recovered during digging work at an old vacant house in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district on Tuesday, officials said.

The shell was found in the courtyard of a vacant house belonging to Subash Chander, a resident of Kattal Brahmana in Hiranagar.

Following the discovery, the Border Police Post (BPP) Sherpur was informed. A police team rushed to the spot, secured the area and took the rusted mortar shell into its custody.

Officials said the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) from District Police Lines (DPL), Kathua, was subsequently informed and called to the site to safely dispose of the explosive.
