Kulgam, August 4, KNT: Kulgam Police held a coordination meeting with fruit growers, commission agents, dealers and transporters to discuss security arrangements and facilitate the smooth movement of fruit-laden vehicles during the ongoing harvesting season.

During the meeting, representatives of the fruit trade expressed concern over delays caused by repeated checking of fruit-laden trucks at various locations, saying the stoppages affect the timely transportation of perishable produce to markets outside the Valley.

Responding to the concerns, police officials assured the participants that necessary measures would be taken to facilitate the smooth movement of fruit-laden trucks while maintaining essential security protocols.

The officials emphasized the need for cooperation between the police and the fruit trade to ensure that security measures do not unnecessarily disrupt the transportation of horticultural produce.

Representatives of fruit growers and dealers appreciated the initiative taken by the police and assured the authorities that they would extend full cooperation in complying with security guidelines during the transportation of fruit consignments.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain close coordination to ensure uninterrupted movement of apple-loaded trucks while addressing security concerns. [KNT]
