
Srinagar, April 2, KNT: The office of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said he has expressed gratitude to Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for approving the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-I) timeline till March 2027.
According to a post shared by the Chief Minister’s Office on X, the extension has been granted to facilitate the completion of ongoing rural road projects across the Union Territory.
The development is significant as several road connectivity projects under PMGSY were facing delays due to terrain challenges, weather conditions and execution constraints, particularly in remote and hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the post, Omar Abdullah said the decision would play a crucial role in ensuring that key infrastructure projects are completed without disruption.
“This extension will help in facilitating the completion of several important rural road projects,” he said.
He added that improved connectivity remains essential for the region’s development, particularly in rural and far-flung areas.
