Srinagar, June 9, KNT: The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has condemned the alleged assault on a resident doctor at Government Medical College (GMC) Shalimar, Jammu, and sought the registration of an institutional FIR against those responsible.

According to information released by the association, the incident allegedly occurred on the night of June 8, during which the resident doctor was reportedly assaulted and her scalp hair was allegedly pulled.

The incident has raised concerns among medical professionals regarding the safety and security of healthcare workers in hospitals and medical institutions.

Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, National Spokesperson of FAIMA, expressed concern over the reported incident and said violence against healthcare professionals is unacceptable and adversely affects the functioning of healthcare institutions.

He urged the Principal of GMC Shalimar to immediately lodge an institutional FIR and ensure strict action against those responsible for the alleged assault.

Dr. Khan said doctors must be able to perform their professional duties in a safe and secure environment without fear of intimidation, threats, or violence.

FAIMA also reiterated its demand for enhanced security measures in hospitals and medical colleges across the country, stating that repeated incidents involving healthcare workers require stronger institutional safeguards.

The association warned that attacks on healthcare personnel cannot be tolerated and called for effective measures to ensure the safety of medical staff. [KNT]
