Budgam, May 22, KNT: President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian and Founder of Anjuman Interfaith Dialogue Chapter, Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi, on Friday strongly condemned the demolition of housing structures belonging to members of the Gujjar-Bakerwal community in the Sidra area of Jammu, describing the reported displacement of families as deeply disturbing.
Addressing the Friday congregation at Markazi Imam Bara Budgam, Aga Hassan expressed concern over what he described as a large-scale demolition drive affecting members of the tribal community.
The remarks come amid reported demolition operations in Sidra that, according to Aga Hassan, have allegedly left several families homeless.
Calling the situation contrary to the principles of humanity and justice, Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi said the reported demolitions and resulting displacement had caused anguish and concern.
He said that demolition operations allegedly rendering families without shelter raise serious humanitarian concerns.
“Such actions are highly disturbing and contrary to the principles of humanity and justice,” Aga Hassan said while addressing the congregation.
The Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian president further said that, in his view, targeting Muslims under the guise of law enforcement raises serious concerns in a democratic and civilized society.
He also appealed to public representatives, social organizations, and human rights bodies to intervene and play a role in addressing the situation.
Aga Hassan, while making the appeal, referred to what he described as a “dehumanising Muslim Project” which, according to him, has been in motion since 2014. [KNT]
