Jammu, July 24, KNT: Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained suspended on Friday as landslides and continuous shooting stones at multiple vulnerable locations continued to obstruct the arterial road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country.

Traffic officials said restoration work is underway at affected stretches including Trishul Mode Ramban, but persistent adverse weather and falling debris have prevented the safe movement of vehicles.

Authorities have advised commuters and transporters not to undertake travel on the highway until fresh traffic advisories are issued, warning that road conditions remain unsafe.

The continued closure has disrupted the movement of passenger vehicles and the transportation of essential supplies. In view of the prolonged disruption, Northern Railway has been operating special train services between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to facilitate the movement of stranded passengers.

Officials said restoration efforts are continuing on a war footing, and traffic will be resumed only after the highway is declared safe for vehicular movement. [KNT]
