Srinagar, Sep 22, KNT: Senior judicial officer Yash Paul Bourney was sworn in on Tuesday as a Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Chief Justice Dr. Pushpendra Singh Bhati administered the oath of office to Bourney at the Chief Justice’s Court Room in Srinagar.
His appointment was notified by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on September 19 following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.
Bourney began his judicial career in 1996 and subsequently served in several judicial positions, including as Chief Judicial Magistrate, Principal District Judge and District and Sessions Judge. He has also served as Director of the J&K Judicial Academy and Member Secretary of the State Legal Services Authority.
Prior to his elevation to the High Court, Bourney was serving as a member of the J&K Special Tribunal in Jammu.
His appointment is among the recent judicial appointments made to various High Courts following recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium. [KNT]
