19-Year-Old Resident of Muzaffarabad Detained in Karnah Sector

Kupwara, June 12, KNT: A 19-year-old resident of Pakistan-held Kashmir (PhK) was apprehended in the Karnah sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday and later handed over to the Army for questioning, officials said.

The individual has been identified as Assad Khan, son of Janzib Khan, a resident of Muzaffarabad, Kashmir.

According to officials, the youth was found by locals after he crossed the LoC and was subsequently handed over to personnel of 06 Mahar Army.

Sources said the youth is currently being held at an Army camp, where he is being questioned to ascertain the circumstances under which he entered the area.

Officials have not immediately disclosed whether the crossing was inadvertent or deliberate, and inquiries are underway to establish the sequence of events.

Security agencies are expected to complete legal formalities and further verification before taking a final view on the case.
