Omar Abdullah Visits Cloudburst-Hit Poonch, Assures Relief to Affected Families

Jammu, August 5, KNT: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday visited the cloudburst and flash flood-affected areas of Poonch district to assess the damage caused by the recent natural calamities and assure affected families of government assistance.
During his visit, the Chief Minister reached Murrah village in Surankote, where he met the family that lost its loved ones in the recent cloudburst. He expressed his condolences and conveyed solidarity with the bereaved family, assuring them of all possible assistance and support from the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
Omar Abdullah also reviewed the extent of damage caused by cloudbursts, flash floods and land subsidence in different parts of Poonch. He interacted with residents and local officials to assess the losses suffered by households, agricultural land and public infrastructure.
The Chief Minister said the administration had been directed to ensure timely relief and rehabilitation measures for the affected families and to expedite restoration of damaged infrastructure.
His visit comes amid continuing assessment of losses caused by the recent spell of extreme weather that has affected several districts of Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
