Two Teenagers Killed, Two Injured as Lightning Strikes Group in Kokernag’s Gawran

Anantnag, Aug 13, KNT: A lightning strike killed two teenagers and injured two others in Gawran area of Larnoo in Kokernag on Thursday, turning a routine journey into a fatal incident in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The four youths were reportedly travelling from Lehvan towards Gawran when they were struck by lightning.

The victims included 17-year-old Bilal Ahmad Batana and Faizan Ahmad Chad, both residents of Maethindoo, who died in the incident.

Two other youths, 17-year-old Shareef Ahmad Batana and 18-year-old Sajad Ahmad Batana, were injured in the lightning strike.

Following the incident, the injured were shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Larnoo for medical treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable.

The incident has caused shock in the Maethindoo area, with two young lives lost and two others injured in the sudden lightning strike.

Lightning strikes can cause severe injuries or death within seconds, making people caught outdoors during thunderstorms particularly vulnerable.
