Salman Sagar Questions Termination of Jal Shakti Employees, Says Termination Should Not Become Victimization

Srinagar, March 10, KNT: National Conference MLA Salman Sagar on Tuesday said that termination of employees should not become a form of victimization, while reacting to the disengagement of three Jal Shakti Department workers by the Jammu and Kashmir administration over alleged anti-national activities.
The remarks come after the Lieutenant Governor-led administration ordered the disengagement of three employees of the Jal Shakti Department following allegations of involvement in anti-national activities, a move that has drawn reactions from political leaders.
“Termination should not become victimization. If anyone is involved in anti-national activity, they must get a fair chance to present their side before ruining someone’s life,” Salman Sagar said.
Earlier, the administration disengaged three workers of the Jal Shakti Department from service, citing alleged involvement in anti-national activities.
According to an official order, three PHE workers Showkat Ahmad Zargar, son of Nazir Ahmad Zargar, a resident of Iqbal Mohalla Bijbehara in Anantnag district, Liyaqat Ali Bhagwan, son of Aziz Mohammad Bhagwan, a resident of Bhagwan Mohalla Huller in Kishtwar district, working as a Need Based Casual Labourer (NBCL) and posted at Berwar, Kishtwar and Kousar Hussain Bhagwan, son of Mohammad Akbar Bhagwan and a resident of Hunjala in Kishtwar district, working as a Need Based Casual Labourer and posted at Huller under PHE Sub-Division Kishtwar have been disengaged from service with immediate effect.
Officials said the order was issued as part of action taken by the administration against employees accused of activities considered detrimental to the interests of the state.
The move has triggered political reactions, with some leaders calling for procedural fairness while the administration maintains that action is taken after due verification by security agencies.
The disengagement of government employees over alleged anti-national activities has been reported in several cases in recent past as part of administrative measures aimed at addressing security concerns in the region. [KNT]
