Omar Abdullah, J&K ministers extend Eid, Nauroz greetings, call for unity and peace

Srinagar/Jammu, March 20, KNT: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and those celebrating worldwide on the occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Nauroz, highlighting the spiritual and social significance of the festivals.
In his message, the Chief Minister described Eid as a divine celebration following a month of fasting, prayer and self-discipline during Ramadan, calling it an occasion to express gratitude and strengthen communal bonds.
The greetings from the top leadership come as the region prepares to mark Eid-ul-Fitr and Nauroz, festivals that reflect religious devotion as well as Kashmir’s composite cultural heritage.
“Eid is a joyous occasion that brings people together to celebrate the blessings of Ramadan. It strengthens the bonds of community and reaffirms the values of mutual respect and brotherhood,” Omar Abdullah said.
He said the festival promotes compassion, generosity and unity, and prayed for lasting peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Extending greetings on Nauroz, the Chief Minister said the festival marks the arrival of spring and symbolises renewal, hope and harmony.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary also greeted the people, describing Eid-ul-Fitr and Nauroz as festivals of immense religious and cultural significance reflecting the region’s composite heritage.
He said Eid marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan, symbolising compassion and generosity, while Nauroz heralds the arrival of spring and is celebrated with enthusiasm across parts of the region.
Minister for Agriculture Production and Rural Development, Javid Ahmad Dar, said Eid-ul-Fitr represents values of compassion, charity, forgiveness and brotherhood, urging people to extend support to the underprivileged.
He said such occasions reinforce inclusiveness and social responsibility while strengthening communal harmony.
Minister for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, said Eid reflects patience, self-discipline and spiritual growth, and called on people to spread kindness and work collectively for societal welfare.
While extending Nauroz greetings, Rana said the festival symbolises renewal and positivity and promotes harmony and cultural diversity.
Minister for Health and Education, Sakeena Itoo, also conveyed greetings, urging people to embrace the spirit of compassion and unity and support the underprivileged.
She said Nauroz represents hope and renewal and serves as a reminder of shared traditions that foster inclusiveness and mutual respect.
Officials said the leaders also prayed for peace, development and prosperity in the region, expressing hope that the festivals would bring joy and positivity to every household.
The messages collectively emphasised unity in diversity, communal harmony and the importance of celebrating festivals with simplicity, compassion and a sense of togetherness. [KNT]
