Srinagar, April 7, KNT: A fresh wet spell is set to impact Jammu and Kashmir till April 9, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected in the Jammu region and light to moderate rain forecast across the Kashmir Valley, officials said.
The weather system is expected to intensify on April 8, bringing peak precipitation across both regions, along with a noticeable drop in temperatures in the Valley. Higher reaches of Kashmir are likely to receive moderate snowfall during this period.
According to the forecast, the Jammu region may witness spells of moderate to heavy rain, which could lead to localized disruptions, particularly in vulnerable areas. In contrast, most parts of the Kashmir Valley are expected to experience intermittent light to moderate rainfall.
Higher altitude areas, including mountainous zones of the Valley, could see moderate snowfall, especially on April 8 when the system is projected to be at its strongest. The snowfall, combined with rainfall in lower areas, may affect surface transport in select routes.
The drop in temperature across the Valley is expected to bring a return of cooler conditions after recent relatively stable weather. Residents may experience a chill, particularly during morning and evening hours.
No severe weather warnings have been indicated in the input, but the combination of rain and snowfall during peak activity may lead to temporary inconvenience in travel and daily activities.
The weather is expected to improve after April 9, with conditions likely to stabilize gradually. [KNT]
