Updated: 21 Killed, 61 Injured in J&K’s Ramnagar–Udhampur Bus Crash

Udhampur, April 20, KNT: At least 21 people were killed and 61 injured after a passenger bus met with a major accident on the Ramnagar–Udhampur highway in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

The Union Minister Jitendra Singh said the injured have been shifted to District Hospital Udhampur, while critically injured passengers are being airlifted to Government Medical College Jammu.

The accident occurred near the Kaghote area when the bus reportedly lost control on a hilly stretch and overturned, resulting in heavy casualties.

Rescue operations were launched immediately, with police, local administration, and emergency teams evacuating passengers and clearing the site.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families, while directing officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed sorrow over the incident, conveying sympathies to the affected families and calling for all necessary assistance to those injured.

Other political leaders and officials also reacted to the tragedy, expressing condolences and urging authorities to extend full support to victims and their families.

Officials said all possible assistance is being provided, with senior authorities monitoring rescue and medical response efforts.
