Bandipora, July 20, KNT: Back-to-back cloudbursts struck the Tulail Valley in Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday, damaging portions of the Dawar–Tulail road and forcing the suspension of vehicular movement.

Officials said the cloudbursts triggered flash floods and carried large quantities of debris onto the roadway, causing significant damage, particularly near Burnai and Zadigey villages.

As a precautionary measure, traffic on the Dawar–Tulail road has been suspended, with authorities closing the route until it is declared safe for movement.

The closure has disrupted connectivity to several villages in the Tulail Valley, while officials continue to assess the extent of damage caused by the flash floods.

Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries have been reported in the incident.

The concerned departments have initiated an assessment of the affected stretches, and restoration work is expected to begin after weather conditions permit and the road is cleared of debris.

Authorities have advised commuters to avoid travelling towards the affected area until the road is reopened and fresh traffic advisories are issued. [KNT]
