Omar Abdullah Takes Auto-Rickshaw to Reach NC’s Statehood Protest Venue in Delhi
New Delhi, July 20, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday took an auto-rickshaw ride from Jantar Mantar to Prithviraj Road, the revised venue of the National Conference’s protest demanding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by his two sons, Zahir Abdullah and Zamir Abdullah. The three were seen travelling in the auto-rickshaw while carrying placards in support of the party’s demand.
Explaining the unusual mode of transport, Omar Abdullah said his walk from Jantar Mantar was drawing large crowds and was beginning to resemble a procession.
“My walk from Jantar Mantar was about to turn into another procession, so we grabbed the first available means of transport,” he wrote in a post on X.
The Chief Minister also shared a video of the auto-rickshaw ride on his social media account.
The National Conference’s protest, led by party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah, was organized at Prithviraj Road after a change in venue. The party has been pressing for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and other constitutional rights.
Several senior National Conference leaders and workers from Jammu and Kashmir assembled in the national capital to participate in the demonstration. [KNT]
