Srinagar, July 26, KNT: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch, Jammu and Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against three persons allegedly involved in a fake government job racket.
The chargesheet has been filed in FIR No. 01/2026 registered under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
The accused have been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh alias Gulzar of Palpora, Pamposh Colony, Noor Bagh, Srinagar; Mohammad Yousuf Wani of Kunzer, Baramulla; and Mohammad Abdullah Mir of Shivath, Sumbal, Bandipora.
According to the EOW, the case originated from a written complaint alleging that Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh cheated the complainants of Rs 23 lakh on the false promise of securing government jobs for them.
The investigating agency alleged that the accused issued forged appointment orders, identity cards, licences, appointment letters, and fabricated police and CID verification documents to make the job offers appear authentic.
During the course of investigation, the EOW said it collected sufficient evidence which prima facie established that the accused, acting in connivance with one another, allegedly deceived the complainants and dishonestly obtained their money through forged documents and false assurances of employment.
Following completion of the investigation, the EOW filed the chargesheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, for judicial proceedings. [KNT]
