Anantnag, June 12, KNT: Five security personnel and a militant were killed on Wednesday in a deadly attack in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

According to reports, militants opened fire on a joint patrol party of police and the Central Reserve Police Force on the Khanabal-Pahalgam road near a private school. The sudden burst of firing triggered panic in the area, which was crowded at the time.

Officials said that five CRPF personnel affiliated with the 116 Battalion were killed in the attack. A police officer sustained critical injuries after being hit by bullets in the chest and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Sources said a minor girl, identified as Snowbar Jan, also sustained injuries during the incident. She was reported to be stable.
