Punjab Police Arrest Two Alleged Shooters from J&K in Ferozepur Shopkeeper Murder Case

Jammu, June 7, KNT: Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with Ferozepur Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police, has arrested two alleged shooters accused of involvement in the murder of a shopkeeper in Punjab’s Ferozepur district.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the accused, both residents of Rajasthan, were apprehended from Jammu and Kashmir during a coordinated operation carried out by the three police units.

“In a breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a well-coordinated operation with Ferozepur Police and Jammu & Kashmir Police, apprehended two shooters from Rajasthan involved in the murder of Gurcharan Singh Gaba of Makhu, Ferozepur, from Jammu & Kashmir,” the DGP said in a statement.

Police said a Beretta .30 bore pistol along with 10 live cartridges were recovered from the possession of the accused.

According to investigators, preliminary inquiry revealed that both accused have a criminal background and were allegedly involved in cases related to extortion, robbery, dacoity, theft and violations of the Arms Act.

The DGP said Rajasthan Police had also announced a reward of ₹10,000 on the accused.

The arrests are linked to the killing of Gurcharan Singh Gaba, a shopkeeper from Makhu town in Ferozepur district, who was shot at by two motorcycle-borne assailants on June 1.

Police said the attackers opened fire on Gaba in a market area before fleeing from the spot. The injured shopkeeper was shifted for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.. [KNT]
